Can SMS messaging be used to save club from relegation?

Can SMS messaging be used to save club from relegation? Grimsby Town Football Club will be hoping that SMS messaging can play a part in the club's desperate scrap to avoid relegation from League Two.

Currently in 23rd position, the club is facing the drop to non-league football and the Blue Square Premier.

But the Grimsby Telegraph has joined forces with the club to support its Be There Or Blue Square campaign.

On Monday (March 15th), a picture of Captain Peacock, a caricature of club captain Lee Peacock, was printed in a hidden location in the newspaper.

Those spotting him had to text SMS number 65100 with GT Captain, the page number he appeared on and the competition entrant's details.

The cost of the SMS messaging was 50p plus the standard network charge, and prizes range from an executive table at a forthcoming home game to free match tickets.

Grimsby's fight against the drop resumes tomorrow (March 20th), when they entertain second-placed Bournemouth at Blundell Park.
